UP Home Guard Recruitment 2026: Final Merit List Expected in September

UP Home Guard Recruitment 2026 has reached a crucial stage, with the final result for 41,424 Home Guard vacancies in Uttar Pradesh scheduled to be announced in September. The update came during a high-level review meeting chaired by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who also emphasized the need to strengthen training, emergency response capabilities, and modernization within the Home Guard organization.

The recruitment drive is one of the largest Home Guard hiring initiatives undertaken in the state in recent years and is expected to significantly boost manpower for public safety, disaster response, and law enforcement support services.

CM Yogi Calls for CPR and First Aid Training

During the review meeting, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to make CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and first aid training mandatory for Home Guard personnel.

The Chief Minister highlighted the critical role played by Home Guards and police personnel as first responders during emergencies, accidents, disasters, and public safety incidents.

He said that in many situations, Home Guards are among the first officials to reach victims. Therefore, they should be fully trained in life-saving techniques, including CPR, first aid procedures, and awareness of the importance of the “golden hour” following an accident or medical emergency.

Home Guards Play a Key Role in Public Safety

Addressing officials, the Chief Minister described the Home Guard organization as an important pillar of internal security, law and order, disaster management, and public service in Uttar Pradesh.

He stressed the need to make the force more capable, technologically advanced, professionally trained, and modernized to meet emerging challenges.

The government is also focusing on expanding disaster preparedness and emergency response capabilities among volunteers.

Thousands Receive Specialized Disaster Management Training

Officials informed the meeting that significant progress has already been made in disaster response training programs.

According to department data:

  • 3,812 Home Guards have been trained as Disaster Mitras (Disaster Friends).
  • 1,091 volunteers have received specialized fire rescue training.
  • 425 personnel have been trained in flood rescue operations.

These initiatives are aimed at strengthening the state’s ability to respond quickly during natural disasters, fire emergencies, floods, and other crisis situations.

Selected Candidates to Receive 90-Day Training

Candidates selected through the recruitment process will undergo a comprehensive 90-day basic training program at police training institutions across the state.

The training curriculum is expected to include:

  • Physical fitness
  • Disaster management
  • Law and order duties
  • Emergency response procedures
  • CPR and first aid techniques
  • Public safety protocols
  • Communication and coordination skills

Officials believe the structured training program will help improve operational efficiency and preparedness among newly recruited personnel.

Infrastructure Development Projects Underway

The state government is also investing in infrastructure development for the Home Guard department.

According to officials, construction work is currently underway on 20 development projects with a combined investment of approximately ₹104.80 crore.

These projects are expected to improve training facilities, administrative infrastructure, and operational capabilities across the state.

The government is also planning to upgrade the Central Training Institute into a state-level advanced training center equipped with modern facilities.

Financial Support for Families of Deceased Home Guards

The review meeting also highlighted welfare initiatives for Home Guard personnel and their families.

Under existing provisions, a nominated dependent receives an ex gratia assistance amount of ₹5 lakh in the event of a volunteer’s death during service.

Since December 2020:

  • More than 3,153 cases have received financial assistance.
  • A total of approximately ₹157.65 crore has been distributed as ex gratia support.

In addition, between April 2022 and May 2026:

  • Families of 125 deceased Home Guard volunteers received insurance benefits through various banking and insurance schemes.
  • Insurance assistance ranged between ₹30 lakh and ₹45 lakh per beneficiary family.

Recruitment Drive Seen as Major Employment Opportunity

The recruitment of 41,424 Home Guards is being viewed as a significant employment opportunity for youth across Uttar Pradesh.

With the final results expected in September, thousands of candidates are eagerly awaiting the completion of the selection process.

Officials say the recruitment initiative will not only strengthen the Home Guard force but also improve the state’s disaster response network, public safety framework, and law enforcement support system.

The government expects the newly recruited personnel to play an important role in community service, emergency response operations, and maintaining public order across Uttar Pradesh.
