Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has described Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming two-day official visit to Israel as “important,” saying it is expected to deepen economic, diplomatic, and security cooperation between the two nations, with a major focus on advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing.

High-Tech Cooperation at the Center

Speaking during a weekly cabinet meeting, Netanyahu said expanding collaboration in high-tech sectors is a top priority. He emphasized that joint work in AI, quantum technologies, and innovation could significantly strengthen bilateral ties and open new pathways for strategic development.

According to the official schedule, Modi is expected to address Israel’s parliament, the Knesset, visit the Holocaust memorial Yad Vashem, and participate in a major innovation event in Jerusalem alongside Israeli leaders and technology stakeholders.

Push for Strategic Alliance Network

Netanyahu also spoke about building a broader regional and international framework of cooperation with countries that share similar security and geopolitical perspectives. He said Israel aims to develop a network of partnerships—including India, Greece, and Cyprus, along with unnamed partners from Arab, African, and Asian regions—to counter extremist threats and strengthen stability.

He described the concept as an alliance structure of like-minded nations capable of aligning strategies, addressing common challenges, and shaping long-term regional security.

First Visit in Nine Years

Netanyahu has expressed high expectations for the trip, noting that the two leaders plan wide-ranging discussions covering economic, technological, and geopolitical cooperation. Modi’s visit marks his first trip to Israel in nine years; his previous visit in 2017 was historic as the first standalone visit by an Indian prime minister.

Highlighting India’s global stature, Netanyahu recently said the country’s population, economic influence, and international standing make it a powerful and significant partner for Israel.
