Kyiv/Paris, November 17, 2025: Ukraine has signed a letter of intent with France to acquire up to 100 advanced fighter jets, strengthening its air capabilities amid ongoing conflict with Russia. Presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Emmanuel Macron formalized the agreement, marking a major step in European defense support for Kyiv.
The deal is intended to bolster Ukraine’s defense against Russian advances, potentially altering battlefield dynamics in favor of Kyiv. The announcement comes despite recent concerns from some European allies over corruption allegations within Ukraine, with officials emphasizing that continued military support is critical for regional security.
Military analysts note that integrating French fighter jets into Ukraine’s air force will require training, logistics, and coordination, but it signals a significant escalation in Kyiv’s capability to respond to aerial threats. The agreement also reinforces France’s commitment to European security and NATO-aligned support for Ukraine.
