PM Modi in Assam: Will Inaugurate ₹18,530 Crore Projects Including Medical College & Bioethanol Plant, Next Visit to Kolkata and Bihar

On the second day of his five-state tour, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several development projects in Assam worth more than ₹18,530 crore. These include major infrastructure, health, and industrial projects aimed at strengthening Assam’s growth and connectivity.

🏥 Major Projects in Assam

The Prime Minister will inaugurate the Darang Medical College and Hospital, GNM School, and B.Sc. Nursing College, which will boost healthcare facilities in the state. He will also inaugurate the Assam Bioethanol Plant at Numaligarh Refinery Ltd. (NRL)—a significant step towards India’s renewable energy and self-reliance goals.

🇮🇳 Next Stop: Kolkata for Defence Meet

On 15 September, PM Modi will head to Kolkata, West Bengal, to inaugurate the 16th Combined Commanders’ Conference-2025. The three-day defence conference (15–17 September) will see the Prime Minister address the commanders of the armed forces, focusing on strengthening India’s security and strategic capabilities.

🌾 PM Modi’s Bihar Visit: Focus on Makhana and Infrastructure

Later, PM Modi will travel to Bihar on 15 September, marking his second visit to the state within a month. Key highlights include:

  • Launch of the National Makhana Board to promote production, post-harvest management, technology development, and branding of Bihar’s famous makhana.

  • Inauguration of the interim terminal building at Purnia Airport to increase passenger handling capacity.

  • Foundation stone laying and inauguration of projects worth ₹36,000 crore in Purnia.

🔥 Historic Investment in Bihar

Among the projects, the Pirpainti Thermal Power Project in Bhagalpur stands out as the largest private sector investment in Bihar with a value of ₹25,000 crore. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the Kosi-Mechi inter-state river connectivity project worth over ₹2,680 crore.

🚆 Railways and Housing Projects

Continuing his vision of better connectivity, PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for rail projects and flag off several trains. He will also participate in the Griha Pravesh ceremony for:

  • 35,000 rural beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural).

  • 5,920 urban beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban).

Keys to some of the beneficiaries will be handed over personally by the Prime Minister.

With these projects, PM Modi’s visit emphasizes health, infrastructure, renewable energy, railways, defence, and economic growth for eastern India.
