New Delhi – The Central Government took a historic step 10 years ago today by implementing the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme, which proved to be a big relief for the ex-servicemen of the Indian Armed Forces and their families. Under this scheme, soldiers with the same rank and equal service period get equal pension regardless of their retirement date. PM Narendra Modi, remembering this day, wrote a post on social media – in which he described OROP as a symbol of the government’s gratitude and respect towards the Indian military forces.
PM Modi said that implementing One Rank One Pension was an important step to pay tribute to the courage and sacrifice of our veterans and ex-servicemen. This decision was a step taken towards showing our gratitude to our army personnel and fulfilling the pending demands. In the last decade, lakhs of pensioners benefited from it, which is a proof of our government’s commitment.
He further said that through OROP, the pension of the ex-servicemen of the armed forces has been improved and this step has also improved their economic condition. He also said that the government will always be committed to the welfare of the armed forces and
At the same time, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also called this day an important day and thanked PM Modi for the implementation of OROP. He said that OROP is an important pillar of PM Modi’s policy towards the armed forces. More than 25 lakh ex-servicemen have benefited from its implementation and their socio-economic condition has improved.
BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya also posted on social media on the 10th anniversary of OROP in which he called this reform a revolutionary step. He said that OROP ensured that all soldiers with the same rank and service period get equal pension, irrespective of their retirement date. This reform has benefited more than 25 lakh armed forces pensioners and their families. He also informed that more than Rs 1.25 lakh crore has been spent on OROP so far. Apart from this, the pension under OROP is revised every five years, which further strengthens the government’s commitment towards our heroes. The implementation of One Rank One Pension shows the seriousness and sensitivity of the government towards our ex-servicemen.
