India will host the Global Climate Fund Secretariat in New Delhi, a significant outcome of its G20 presidency legacy. The move is aimed at enhancing global cooperation on climate finance and sustainable development initiatives.

Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav said the new secretariat will coordinate with over 70 nations to support climate adaptation and green transition projects. “India is taking the lead in ensuring that developing nations get equitable access to green financing,” he added.

The announcement was welcomed by the UN Environment Programme, which called it a “landmark step for South-South climate collaboration.”
