Ahmedabad Illegal Immigration Crackdown intensified after law enforcement authorities detained more than 290 individuals during a large-scale operation targeting suspected illegal immigration and document verification violations across several areas of the city.
According to officials from the Ahmedabad Crime Branch, preliminary investigations have identified 131 individuals as suspected Bangladeshi nationals residing illegally in India, while approximately 160 additional detainees remain under verification and questioning as authorities continue to examine their citizenship and residency documents.
The operation represents one of the largest recent enforcement actions undertaken by Ahmedabad Police as part of ongoing efforts to identify individuals allegedly residing in the country without valid authorization.
Large-Scale Operation Conducted Overnight
The coordinated enforcement drive was carried out late at night by teams from the Ahmedabad Police and Crime Branch.
Authorities conducted searches and verification exercises in multiple areas, including Chandola, Gulabnagar, and Khodiyarnagar, where officers detained hundreds of individuals for document and identity verification.
Police officials stated that the operation was based on intelligence inputs and ongoing investigations related to suspected illegal residency cases.
Following the detentions, all individuals were transported for further questioning and verification procedures.
131 Individuals Identified During Initial Screening
According to information released by the Crime Branch, initial screening and document verification led investigators to identify 131 people as suspected Bangladeshi nationals allegedly residing in India without valid legal authorization.
Officials emphasized that verification procedures are still ongoing and that legal processes will be followed in accordance with applicable immigration and citizenship laws.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the detained individuals.
