MUMBAI, India — June 3, 2026
Obsession Box Office Collection emerged as one of the biggest highlights at Indian cinemas on Tuesday, with the Hollywood horror thriller outperforming several Bollywood releases and maintaining strong momentum at the domestic box office.
While multiple Hindi films are currently competing for audience attention, including The Great Grand Superhero, Chand Mera Dil, and Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, it is the Hollywood release Obsession and South Indian blockbusters Drishyam 3 and Karuppu that continue to dominate ticket sales across the country.
The latest box office figures indicate a mixed picture for Bollywood, with several films struggling to sustain momentum after their opening weekends, while regional and international titles continue to attract moviegoers.
Obsession Continues Strong Performance in India
Hollywood horror film Obsession is receiving a positive response from Indian audiences. On its fifth day in theaters, the film collected approximately ₹2.75 crore, improving on Monday’s earnings of ₹2 crore.
The movie has now earned an estimated ₹12.50 crore in India within five days of release.
Released globally on May 15 and in Indian theaters on May 29, Obsession has emerged as one of the most successful international releases currently playing in the country, benefiting from strong word-of-mouth and audience interest in the horror genre.
The Great Grand Superhero Struggles to Gain Momentum
Veteran actor Jackie Shroff’s The Great Grand Superhero continues to face challenges at the box office.
After a modest opening weekend, the film’s collections have slowed significantly. On Tuesday, it earned approximately ₹16 lakh, compared with ₹13 lakh on Monday.
Its total domestic collection now stands at an estimated ₹1.54 crore after five days in theaters.
Industry observers note that the film has struggled to compete against larger releases and stronger audience demand for other titles currently in circulation.
Chand Mera Dil Sees Further Decline
Romantic drama Chand Mera Dil, starring Lakshya and Ananya Panday, also witnessed a slowdown in collections during its second week.
The film earned approximately ₹1 crore on its second Tuesday, matching its Monday performance.
With these latest figures, the movie’s cumulative domestic collection has reached around ₹26.30 crore.
Released on May 22, the film has maintained a steady presence in cinemas but has yet to achieve the breakout success many industry analysts expected.
Pati Patni Aur Woh Do Nears ₹50 Crore Mark
Comedy-drama Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, featuring Ayushmann Khurrana, Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Singh, and Wamiqa Gabbi, continues its theatrical run despite slowing momentum.
The film collected approximately ₹1 crore on its third Tuesday, an improvement from Monday’s ₹80 lakh earnings.
Its total domestic box office collection has now reached ₹48.75 crore, putting it within striking distance of the ₹50 crore milestone.
While collections have moderated in recent weeks, the film remains one of the better-performing Bollywood releases currently in theaters.
Drishyam 3 Joins the ₹100 Crore Club
Malayalam thriller Drishyam 3 continues to deliver impressive results and has officially entered the coveted ₹100 crore club.
The film collected approximately ₹1.55 crore on its second Tuesday, down from ₹2.20 crore on Monday following a strong second weekend.
Its cumulative box office earnings now stand at an estimated ₹100.45 crore.
Crossing the ₹100 crore mark represents a major achievement for the film and further strengthens the franchise’s reputation as one of Indian cinema’s most successful thriller series.
Karuppu Moves Closer to ₹200 Crore Milestone
Actor Suriya’s action drama Karuppu remains one of the year’s biggest commercial successes.
Although collections have softened after its third weekend, the film added approximately ₹2.05 crore on Tuesday following Monday’s ₹2.40 crore earnings.
After 19 days in theaters, Karuppu has accumulated an impressive ₹186.90 crore at the domestic box office.
Released on May 14, the film is now rapidly approaching the prestigious ₹200 crore milestone, a benchmark achieved by only a select number of Indian films each year.
Box Office Trends Favor South Cinema and Hollywood
Tuesday’s box office numbers highlight a continuing trend in which South Indian films and select Hollywood releases are outperforming many Bollywood productions.
With Drishyam 3 crossing ₹100 crore, Karuppu moving toward ₹200 crore, and Obsession attracting horror fans across India, audience preferences appear increasingly diverse.
As the summer movie season continues, industry analysts will closely watch whether Bollywood’s current releases can regain momentum or if regional and international films will continue to dominate the box office landscape.
