PM Modi Mann Ki Baat focused on India’s sporting achievements, cultural heritage, agricultural success, and public health awareness as Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation in the 134th episode of his monthly radio program on Sunday.

During the broadcast, the Prime Minister highlighted the remarkable achievements of Indian athletes, celebrated the return of ancient Chola-era artifacts from the Netherlands, praised mango growers across the country, and urged citizens to stay safe during the ongoing summer heatwave.

PM Modi Applauds India’s Record-Breaking Athletes

A major focus of the program was India’s growing success in athletics.

Prime Minister Modi praised Indian sprinters for their outstanding performances and noted that the men’s 100-meter national record had been broken three times within just two days, describing it as a significant milestone for Indian athletics.

“An event that has attracted attention across the country is the 100-meter race. Within just two days, the national record in the men’s category was broken three times,” Modi said during the broadcast.

The Prime Minister specifically highlighted the achievements of athletes Gurindervir Singh and Animesh Kujur, whose performances have generated excitement among sports fans and athletics experts.

Animesh Kujur Shares His Journey

During the program, athlete Animesh Kujur spoke about his sporting journey and achievements.

Kujur introduced himself as the national record holder in the 200-meter and 400-meter events. Originally from Chhattisgarh and currently representing Odisha, he shared details about his success at international competitions.

The athlete noted that he had won medals at the Asian level and at the World University Games and began his athletics career only after completing school in 2021.

Prime Minister Modi praised the determination and dedication displayed by young athletes and encouraged them to continue inspiring future generations.

Chola-Era Copper Plates Return to India

The Prime Minister also spoke about a recent moment of cultural significance during his visit to the Netherlands.

He revealed that ancient Chola-era copper plates were officially returned to India during a special ceremony attended by Dutch officials, including the Prime Minister of the Netherlands.

Modi described the occasion as a moment of pride for every Indian and said he had received numerous messages from people in India and abroad celebrating the return of the historic artifacts.

The Prime Minister noted that members of the global Tamil community had shown particular enthusiasm about the repatriation of the cultural treasures.

India’s Love for Mangoes Takes Center Stage

Another notable segment of the broadcast focused on India’s diverse mango varieties and the farmers who cultivate them.

Modi described mangoes as one of the most beloved symbols of the Indian summer season and highlighted famous varieties from different states across the country.

He mentioned Maharashtra’s Alphonso (Hapus), Gujarat’s Kesar, Uttar Pradesh’s Dasheri and Langra, Bihar’s Jardalu, and several popular southern varieties including Banganapalli, Totapuri, Neelam, and Malgova.

The Prime Minister also referred to Himsagar mangoes from West Bengal and Suvarnarekha mangoes grown in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.

He praised mango farmers for their contribution to India’s agricultural economy and highlighted how Indian mangoes are increasingly reaching global markets.

“You are not ordinary farmers; you are special contributors to India’s agricultural economy,” Modi said while addressing growers.

Summer Health Advisory and Traditional Drinks

With temperatures rising across many parts of India, the Prime Minister once again urged citizens to take precautions against extreme heat.

He encouraged people to stay hydrated, avoid unnecessary exposure to intense sunlight, and follow heat-related guidelines issued by government agencies.

Modi also highlighted several traditional Indian beverages that have historically helped communities cope with summer temperatures.

Among the drinks mentioned were Aam Panna in northern India, Lassi in Punjab and Haryana, Buttermilk (Chaas) in Gujarat and Rajasthan, Sattu Sharbat in Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh, Kokum Sharbat and Sol Kadhi in the Konkan region, Panakam and Neer Mor in southern India, and Bela Pana in Odisha.

According to the Prime Minister, these traditional beverages reflect India’s cultural diversity while also providing practical health benefits during hot weather.

Celebrating “One India, Great India”

The Prime Minister said the variety of regional foods and beverages demonstrates the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” (One India, Great India).

He emphasized that many traditional recipes have been passed down through generations and continue to offer valuable lessons in nutrition, sustainability, and local wisdom.

Modi encouraged citizens to enjoy indigenous summer drinks and appreciate the agricultural traditions that support them.

A Blend of Culture, Sports and Public Awareness

The 134th episode of Mann Ki Baat continued the program’s long-standing focus on grassroots achievements, cultural preservation, public awareness, and inspiring success stories.

From celebrating young athletes and honoring India’s historical heritage to recognizing the contributions of farmers and promoting health awareness, the latest edition reflected a wide range of issues impacting citizens across the country.

As the program concluded, the Prime Minister reiterated the importance of collective efforts in building a stronger and more confident India while encouraging people to continue supporting local traditions, sports, and community initiatives.
