Vedanta Aluminium has signed key Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with downstream manufacturers to establish units at its proposed aluminium park in Jharsuguda, Odisha, in a move expected to strengthen India’s aluminium value chain.
The agreements were signed with Singhal Steel and Power Pvt Ltd and Scott‑L Metacon Pvt Ltd, marking a significant step toward developing the park into a major industrial hub.
₹500 Crore Investment and Job Creation
The initiative is expected to attract over ₹500 crore in fresh investments and generate approximately 1,500 direct and indirect jobs in the region.
The MoU signing ceremony in Bhubaneswar was attended by senior government officials, including:
- Sampad Chandra Swain, Minister of Industries, Skill Development & Technical Education
- Hemant Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary, Industries Department
Boost to MSMEs and Industrial Growth
The proposed aluminium park in Jharsuguda will be developed as a world-class downstream manufacturing hub, aimed at:
- Enhancing value addition in aluminium products
- Supporting MSMEs and small-scale industries
- Strengthening Odisha’s position as a global aluminium center
Officials noted that improved infrastructure and policy support will enable industries to operate more competitively.
Government and Industry Statements
Minister Sampad Chandra Swain said the project will further establish Odisha as a key industrial destination, driving investment and large-scale employment.
Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma highlighted that the park will play a crucial role in strengthening the state’s industrial value chain.
Meanwhile, C. Chandru, CEO of Vedanta Jharsuguda, emphasized that the project will create sustainable employment opportunities and promote entrepreneurship in the region.
Strategic Industrial Development
The aluminium park, spread across approximately 56 acres, is designed to optimize industrial operations by reducing:
- Logistics costs
- Energy consumption
- Production timelines
This integrated ecosystem is expected to attract more downstream industries and improve efficiency across the aluminium supply chain.
