Punjab Unaided Technical Institutions Association (PUTIA) recently submitted a memorandum to Dr M.K Hada, Advisor, AICTE, New Delhi under the leadership of Dr. J.S. Dhaliwal, President, PUTIA. The memorandum was submitted at Law Auditorium in Punjab University during a workshop on AICTE approval process in 2013-14. S.Manjit Singh (Doaba Group), Sh. Rohin Sachdeva (Lala Lajpat Rai Group) and Dr Anshu Kataria (Aryans Group) were also present on the occasion. Dr. J.S.Dhaliwal demanded that eligibility for B.Tech should not be 45% in 10+2, it should be pass percentage as it was earlier. Thousands of students are deprived from technical education because of eligibility criteria only. A student with low percentage can also perform better than a student having good percentage. Dr Dhaliwal also raised other issues like requirement of laboratory equipments, journals, books and library facilities. Adjustment for requirement of faculty, Revision in cutoff date for admission and modification of academic calendar were also added in this Memorandum. Dr Dhaliwal also requested that requirement of Computer, software, internet and printers should be made in ratio of admissions done not according to the intake of seats. He also said that as admissions are less in number so to avoid the wastage of resources faculty should be recruited in ratio of admitted students.
