Hyderabad/Bengaluru, India — February 14, 2026
Movie theaters in Hyderabad and Bengaluru witnessed near-festival scenes Saturday night as screenings of the re-released romantic classic Orange (4K version) and new release O Romeo reported occupancy levels approaching 95%, according to booking trends and exhibitor estimates.
The surge highlights a growing shift in audience behavior, with viewers increasingly treating cinema outings as immersive experiences rather than routine entertainment.
‘Orange’ 4K Re-Release Sparks Nostalgia Wave
Starring Ram Charan, Orange has seen a resurgence in popularity despite its modest theatrical performance in 2010. Over time, it has developed a cult following, aided by composer Harris Jayaraj’s soundtrack — especially the song “Hello Rammante,” which remains popular among younger audiences.
Booking platforms indicated that several single-screen theaters in Hyderabad’s RTC X Roads area displayed “Sold Out” signs for late-night shows.
Strong Response in Bengaluru
Multiplexes in areas such as Malleswaram and Koramangala also recorded heavy footfall, with Telugu-speaking residents and regional film fans turning out in large numbers for the upgraded 4K screenings.
‘O Romeo’ Gains Valentine’s Day Momentum
Romantic drama O Romeo, starring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, has become a preferred choice for Valentine’s night audiences.
Trade observers say the film’s appeal among couples has been boosted by its romantic storyline, lead-pair chemistry, and music composed by Vishal Bhardwaj. Night show occupancy was reported to be stronger in Bengaluru compared with some northern metropolitan markets.
Re-Release Trend Gaining Momentum
Industry analysts note that re-releases of classic South Indian films — such as Pokiri and Okkadu — have demonstrated consistent audience demand in recent years. Enhanced formats like 4K restoration and Dolby Atmos sound are drawing viewers seeking improved audiovisual experiences.
Advance Booking Outlook for Sunday
Advance ticket sales for Sunday’s morning and noon shows of both Orange and O Romeo have already crossed 60–70% occupancy, according to exhibitor sources. In response to strong demand, multiplex chains such as PVR Cinemas and INOX Leisure have added extra screenings for February 15.
Exhibition Sector Insight
Cinema operators say event-style screenings — whether for new releases or restored classics — are increasingly becoming key drivers of theatrical attendance, especially on holiday weekends. The current response suggests that curated re-release programming may remain a major strategy for theaters aiming to boost occupancy.
