Plans to Join Rajya Sabha
Nitish Kumar revealed that he now wishes to become a member of the Rajya Sabha, fulfilling a long-standing personal goal.
He said that since the beginning of his parliamentary career, he had wanted to serve in both Houses of the Bihar Legislature as well as both Houses of Parliament.

Party Workers Express Discontent
Following the announcement, JDU workers expressed dissatisfaction with the decision.
Several party supporters said that voters had supported the party in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections with Nitish Kumar as the chief ministerial face, and they believe he should continue leading the state.
Reports indicate that party workers gathered outside the Chief Minister’s residence in Patna, raising slogans and urging him to reconsider his decision.
Some supporters said they would request Nitish Kumar to remain in Bihar and continue serving as Chief Minister.
Political Discussions Continue
In the meantime, Union Minister Lalan Singh met with Nishant Kumar, Nitish Kumar’s son, after discussions with the Chief Minister.
Sources suggest the meeting involved discussions about future political plans and possible roles in the state government. Reports indicate that Nishant Kumar could potentially be considered for a leadership position, though no official announcement has been made.
The political developments have triggered significant discussions in Bihar’s political circles as the state awaits clarity on the next leadership of the government.
