NEW DELHI, INDIA — May 23, 2026
Millions of LPG consumers across India could lose their cooking gas subsidy after June 30, 2026, if they fail to complete the mandatory electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) verification process, according to the latest government guidelines.
The move is part of the government’s nationwide effort to improve transparency in the LPG distribution system and eliminate fake or duplicate gas connections that illegally receive subsidy benefits.
Officials said consumers who have not reverified their LPG accounts with Aadhaar-linked authentication before the deadline may see subsidy payments stopped entirely.

Subsidy Payments May Stop After June 30
Under the revised rules, LPG subsidy amounts credited directly into consumers’ bank accounts could be discontinued for users whose eKYC remains incomplete after the deadline.
Authorities believe the updated verification system will help identify individuals misusing multiple subsidized gas connections through different dealerships.
Consumers who have not updated or reverified their LPG accounts in recent years are being urged to complete the process immediately to avoid disruptions.
How to Complete LPG eKYC Online From Home
Consumers can complete the eKYC process digitally without visiting a gas agency office.
Step 1: Install the Official LPG App
Users should first download the official mobile application linked to their LPG provider, including:
- IndianOil ONE
- HP Pay
After installation, consumers must log in using their registered mobile number and LPG account details.
Step 2: Use Facial Verification for eKYC
After logging in:
- Go to the “Re-KYC” or “eKYC” section
- Use the mobile camera to scan your face
- The system will verify identity through UIDAI facial authentication technology
Once the verification is successfully completed, the eKYC process will be updated digitally without requiring physical paperwork.
Offline eKYC Option Still Available
Consumers unable to complete the online process can still visit their nearest LPG distributor or gas agency office for offline verification.
They should carry:
- LPG connection passbook
- Aadhaar card photocopy
- Registered mobile number
At the agency, staff members will verify identity using biometric fingerprint authentication, after which the eKYC process will be completed instantly.
Government Tightens LPG Verification System
Officials say the mandatory eKYC drive is aimed at ensuring that subsidy benefits reach only eligible consumers.
The government is also focusing on reducing subsidy leakage and preventing illegal duplication of LPG connections across multiple distributors.
Consumers are advised to complete the verification process well before the June 30 deadline to avoid last-minute technical issues or delays.
