A woman widely known as the “Kumbh viral girl,” Monalisa, has leveled serious allegations against a film director, claiming misconduct involving minor girls and raising concerns about her own safety during a press conference in Kochi on Tuesday.
According to reports cited by news agency PTI, Monalisa—who first gained public attention during the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela last year—accused an acquaintance from the film industry of exploiting young girls under the pretext of offering film opportunities. Addressing the media alongside her husband, Monalisa appealed to the central government as well as the state governments of Kerala and Madhya Pradesh for protection and intervention. She claimed that both she and her husband have received threats to their lives in recent days.
“We are being threatened, and even our posters are being burned,” she told reporters, adding that the situation has created fear for their safety.
Monalisa further alleged that the director has been making defamatory remarks about her and excluding her from film projects. “I feel ashamed even taking his name,” she said, accusing him of inappropriate behavior involving minors. Personal Life Controversy
The controversy has also extended to her personal life. Monalisa addressed claims circulating online that labeled her marriage as “love jihad,” rejecting the characterization and stating that her marriage was conducted in accordance with Hindu rituals at a temple.
“I respect all religions,” she said, urging authorities not to allow misinformation to spread. Her husband, Farman Khan, also spoke at the press conference, alleging that he has been falsely labeled and targeted because of his religious identity.
