New Delhi, India — April 2, 2026
Amid global volatility in energy markets, the Government of India has reassured that the country’s energy security remains strong, with sufficient reserves and stable supply systems in place.
According to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, India currently holds enough crude oil reserves to meet domestic demand for the next 60 days, while refineries continue to operate at full capacity.
Strong Crude Oil Reserves Ensure Stability
The government emphasized that the country is well-prepared to handle any disruptions in global oil supply.
Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary at the ministry, stated:
“India has sufficient crude oil stock to meet demand for the next 60 days.”
This assurance comes at a time when global oil markets remain sensitive to geopolitical and supply-side uncertainties.
LPG Supply Increased by 10% in 8 States
To support commercial and industrial demand, the government has announced a 10% increase in commercial LPG cylinder allocation across eight states.
This move aims to ensure uninterrupted supply for businesses, hospitality sectors, and small industries that rely heavily on LPG for daily operations.
PNG Expansion and Domestic Supply Secured
The government also confirmed that domestic natural gas supply remains stable, with significant expansion in pipeline connections.
Over the past month alone, 3.33 lakh new PNG (Piped Natural Gas) connections have been provided, further strengthening household energy access and reducing dependence on traditional fuels.
Government’s Multi-Layer Energy Strategy
