New Delhi, India — April 3, 2026

Weather conditions across Delhi-NCR shifted sharply on Friday morning, with dust-laden winds sweeping across the region and significantly reducing visibility in several areas.

According to the India Meteorological Department, a fresh spell of rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds is likely to impact the capital and surrounding cities, including Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad.

Dust Storm Hits Visibility, Sudden Shift in Conditions

Early morning hours saw strong winds carrying dust across large parts of Delhi-NCR, leading to reduced visibility and disruption in outdoor activity. The sudden weather shift follows intense heat conditions recorded a day earlier.

On Thursday, Delhi experienced scorching temperatures, with the maximum reaching 36.8°C, above seasonal averages. The minimum temperature stood at 18.9°C, while humidity levels climbed to 89%, making conditions uncomfortable for residents. Key monitoring stations such as Lodhi Road and Ridge also recorded temperatures above 36°C.

Rain and Thunderstorm Alert Issued

The weather department has issued a yellow alert for April 4, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds along with light to moderate rainfall across the region.

Meteorologists attribute the changing conditions to an active western disturbance, which is expected to influence weather patterns over North India in the coming days.

Week Ahead: Fluctuating Weather, Gradual Cooling Expected

Forecast models indicate that intermittent light rainfall or drizzle may continue until April 5, providing temporary relief from rising temperatures.

  • April 6: Partly clear skies expected
  • April 7–8: Another round of rain likely
  • Temperature Trend: Gradual dip expected due to cloud cover and precipitation

The fluctuating weather pattern is likely to bring short-term relief from heat, although residents are advised to remain cautious due to sudden changes, including strong winds and reduced visibility.
