Jammu and Kashmir – : The Jammu and Kashmir Police has installed a face recognition system (FRS) on the Pahalgam route of Amarnath Yatra to prevent any terrorist attack on pilgrims. An officer gave this information. The officer said that this system has a feature which alerts the security forces in real time if any suspicious person comes in the view of the surveillance camera. To ensure foolproof security of Amarnath Yatra, pictures of active and suspected terrorists have been inserted in this system.
The officer said that if any suspicious person matching the pictures of the terrorists provided comes in the frame, a hooter will start ringing at the surveillance center of the security forces, so that steps can be taken in real time to eliminate the threat.
Three lakh pilgrims registered
FRS identifies a person by analyzing facial features from digital photographs or videos and finding matches in the database. More than three lakh pilgrims have registered for this year’s Amarnath Yatra.
It is necessary to make strong security arrangements
The officer said that Amarnath Yatra has been on the target of terrorists earlier also. It has become necessary to make strong security arrangements for this Yatra, because every year lakhs of pilgrims come to visit the holy cave. Actually, after the Pahalgam terrorist attack in late April, there was doubt over the Amarnath Yatra. But after the big counterattack of Operation Sindoor against terrorism and strong security arrangements, pilgrims are registering in large numbers.
The Yatra will start from July 3
Let us tell you that this year’s Amarnath Yatra will start from July 3 and will continue till August 9. More than 331,000 devotees have registered for this.
