PM Narendra Modi Engages Global Leaders on West Asia Situation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a series of high-level conversations with global leaders, including those of Oman, Malaysia, France, and Jordan, to discuss the evolving situation in West Asia and emphasize the need for de-escalation through dialogue and diplomacy.

Talks with Oman Sultan Highlight Maritime Security

During his conversation with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman, PM Modi conveyed advance Eid greetings and discussed regional developments. Both leaders agreed on prioritizing diplomatic efforts to restore peace and stability.

The Prime Minister reiterated India’s condemnation of any violation of Oman’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also appreciated Oman’s role in facilitating the safe return of thousands of people, including Indian nationals. Both sides reaffirmed their support for safe and free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

Engagement with Malaysia Focuses on Peace Efforts

In a separate conversation with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim of Malaysia, PM Modi extended greetings on the occasion of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

The two leaders discussed concerns over the situation in West Asia and emphasized the importance of de-escalation. They jointly highlighted the need for early restoration of peace through sustained dialogue and diplomatic engagement.

India-France Coordination on Regional Stability

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke with French President Emmanuel Macron, focusing on the urgent need to reduce tensions in West Asia.

Both leaders agreed to continue close coordination to support peace and stability in the region and beyond, reinforcing ongoing diplomatic cooperation between India and France.

Discussion with Jordan King on Security Concerns

In his conversation with King Abdullah II of Jordan, PM Modi exchanged Eid greetings and addressed the evolving security situation.

The leaders expressed concern over recent developments and stressed the importance of dialogue for restoring peace and stability. The Prime Minister noted that attacks on energy infrastructure in the region are condemnable and risk further escalation.

He also affirmed that India and Jordan support uninterrupted transit of goods and energy, while appreciating Jordan’s assistance in ensuring the safe return of Indian nationals.
