India’s leading medical institute, AIIMS, will begin using artificial intelligence in patient treatment and medical education, marking a significant step toward technology-driven healthcare. The initiative was launched Wednesday during a visit by French President Emmanuel Macron as part of an international AI summit engagement.
High-Level Visit and Bilateral Cooperation
Macron was formally received at the institute by Union Health Minister JP Nadda before interacting with students and faculty. During discussions, he emphasized stronger academic collaboration between France and India, including expanded student exchange programs.
He stated that France intends to welcome more Indian students while also sending more French students to India to strengthen academic and technological cooperation. He added that visa procedures for Indian students would be simplified to facilitate overseas education.
Student Exchange Target: 30,000 by 2030
According to Macron, both countries have agreed to increase student mobility significantly. Initial targets aim for about 10,000 students, with a gradual expansion plan to reach around 30,000 by 2030.
