The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has initiated the online registration process for the Indian Economic Service (IES) and Indian Statistical Service (ISS) Examination 2026.

This recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 44 vacancies across both services. Interested candidates can submit applications through the official UPSC website, upsc.gov.in. The deadline for online applications is March 3, 2026. A Universal Registration Number (URN) generated during registration will remain valid for all future UPSC examinations.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • For IES: Candidates must possess a postgraduate degree in Economics, Applied Economics, Business Economics, or Econometrics from a recognized Indian university or an approved foreign university.
  • For ISS: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematical Statistics, or Applied Statistics from a recognized university or institution is required.
  • Age Limit: Candidates must be aged between 21 and 30 years as on August 1, 2026 (born not earlier than August 2, 1996, and not later than August 1, 2005).

Application Fee: Candidates from general and other categories must pay ₹200. Female candidates, SC/ST applicants, and persons with benchmark disabilities (PwD) are exempted. Payments can be made via net banking, Visa/Master/RuPay credit/debit cards, or UPI.

  1. Visit upsc.gov.in.
  2. Click on the IES/ISS Examination 2026 registration link on the homepage.
  3. Complete the registration details and submit to generate credentials.
  4. Log in, fill the application form, and pay the fee (if applicable).
  5. Submit the form, download a copy, and retain a hard copy for future reference.
