India Secures Record Hajj Quota for 2026 After Talks in Jeddah, Boosting Diplomatic and Religious Ties

New Delhi, November 10: India has finalized a record Hajj quota of 175,025 pilgrims for 2026, following a successful bilateral agreement with Saudi Arabia in Jeddah. The announcement marks a major step in strengthening India–Saudi diplomatic and cultural relations, ensuring smoother arrangements for Indian pilgrims undertaking the sacred journey next year.

The agreement was signed between India’s Ministry of Minority Affairs and the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, reaffirming the longstanding cooperation between the two nations in managing one of the world’s largest annual pilgrimages.

Officials confirmed that the increased quota reflects India’s robust ties with Riyadh and its consistent record of efficient Hajj management. The pact will also facilitate enhanced services — including digital registration systems, upgraded accommodation, and transport support for pilgrims traveling from India to the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah.

Speaking after the signing, Indian officials emphasized that the 2026 quota aligns with rising demand from across the country, particularly as Hajj applications have surged post-pandemic. Saudi authorities, meanwhile, welcomed India’s continued commitment to promoting religious harmony and cooperation.

This agreement comes as part of broader efforts to deepen India–Saudi partnerships in trade, energy, and cultural exchange, while reinforcing people-to-people connections through faith-based diplomacy.
