In a landmark announcement echoing through the corridors of sustainability, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the Green Bharat Mission in New Delhi this morning. Backed by an ambitious national goal, the mission aims for 65% of India’s energy consumption to be sourced from renewables—including solar, wind, and hydrogen—by the year 2035.
“Protecting our environment,” declared Modi, “is not merely an obligation—it’s our moral responsibility to future generations. The Green Bharat Mission is designed not only to power our homes and cities, but to empower our youth for green jobs and innovation.”
This bold plan arrives as global leaders emphasize urgent action on climate change. Environmentalist Priya Singh lauded the move: “India’s push for renewables is a message to the world—progress and planet can go hand in hand.”
The government will support over $250 billion in public-private investments, rapidly expand grid infrastructure, and champion rural electrification. Many expect India’s trajectory to be a beacon for emerging economies.
