Rainfall Havoc: More Than 700 Trains Affected by Cancellations

INVC NEWS
New Delhi  : Due to heavy rains in various northwestern states, more than 700 trains have been canceled or affected. The Railway officials stated that from July 7 to 15, a total of 300 mail, express, and passenger trains were canceled due to water-logging on the tracks. The continuous rainfall over the past three days has caused water-logging and infrastructure damage in Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

The Northern Railway, which operates in these regions, has taken several measures to deal with the situation. They have canceled 300 Mail/Express trains, while 100 trains were short terminated and 191 trains were diverted. In addition, 406 passenger trains were canceled, 28 were diverted, and 54 were short terminated due to water-logging.

The heavy rains have caused significant disruptions to train services, impacting both long-distance and local commuters. The cancellation and diversion of trains are necessary to ensure the safety of passengers and to prevent further damage to the tracks and infrastructure. The railway authorities are working to restore normal operations as soon as possible, but the resumption of services will depend on the weather conditions and the extent of repairs required.

Passengers are advised to stay updated with the latest information from the railway authorities regarding train cancellations, diversions, and rescheduling. Alternate transportation arrangements may need to be considered in case of significant delays or cancellations.
