Three FIRs have been filed in Chhattisgarh against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for allegedly hurting the religious sentiments of the Sikh community. Police said on Friday that these cases were filed over Rahul’s recent comments on Sikhs in America. The first case was filed at Civil Lines police station in Raipur, the second at Bilaspur Civil Lines police station in Bilaspur district on Thursday, while one FIR was filed at Kotwali police station in Durg district on Friday.
These cases have been filed on the basis of complaints by BJP leaders. The ruling party leaders have lodged similar complaints with the police in other districts of the state as well. State BJP spokesperson Amarjeet Singh Chhabra said in a complaint filed in Raipur that Rahul’s false statement has hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community. Because in the whole world including India, the Sikh community is not banned from wearing turban, Kada and visiting Gurudwaras. ( PLC & GT )
