New Delhi   – : The Indian Meteorological Department said that the monsoon has arrived in Kerala 7 days late from the normal date of June 1. Monsoon is likely to reach Karnataka and Tamil Nadu in three to four days. It is expected to reach the capital Delhi by the end of this month.

It is raining heavily in Kerala for two consecutive days, the strength of westerly wind is also good. Today Monsoon has reached the areas of North Kerala.

Monsoon has also covered parts of Tamil Nadu and Bay of Bengal. It has also reached Puducherry.

Heavy rains are expected in the next few days in many areas of North East India. We expect Monsoon to cover entire Kerala in the next 48 hours. Also, it will reach some other areas of Tamil Nadu as well. The arrival of Monsoon in Kerala is good news for the farmers, who can now start preparing for sowing of Kharif crops.

Kerala receives the first monsoon rains in the country. This time it is a week late. Although meteorologists say that this will not affect the rain. The Meteorological Department has predicted normal monsoon this time.

Monsoon usually hits the Kerala coast around June 1. On May 26, the Meteorological Department had said that this year’s monsoon could reach the Kerala coast by June 4. But due to the cyclonic circulation, there was a slight delay in the arrival of monsoon. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the monsoon flow has been slightly disturbed due to the formation of a cyclonic circulation in the Arabian Sea.

The Meteorological Department has predicted normal monsoon rains in the country from June to September this year. Monsoon is expected to be normal over most parts of the country. However, Monsoon rains this year are likely to be below average over Northwest India.
