The case pertains to a dispute over the censor certificate issued by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which had raised objections to certain portions of the film.

According to court records, the CBFC objected to specific political dialogues, potential religious sensitivities, and the portrayal of the armed forces in Jana Nayagan.
