Speculation about a historic cinematic moment is gaining momentum after reports suggested that Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan may appear in a cameo role in Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated film “Jailer 2.” If confirmed, the appearance would mark the first time the two legendary actors share screen space.
The buzz began circulating after a social media post from stylist Jihad Shamsuddeen, who works with actor Mohanlal. The stylist shared an AI-generated image on Instagram that featured Shah Rukh Khan driving a car while Mohanlal sat in the passenger seat. In the back seat were Rajinikanth and Kannada star Shiv Rajkumar.
The image quickly caught fans’ attention across social media platforms, fueling speculation that the upcoming sequel could feature a multi-star moment involving some of Indian cinema’s biggest names.
Viral Post Triggers Fan Speculation
In the caption accompanying the image, it was suggested that fans are eagerly waiting to see such a frame in “Jailer 2.” Shamsuddeen further reshared the image with the phrase “Kandippa Irukkum” — meaning “It will definitely happen.”

Although the comment intensified speculation online, the makers of the film have not issued any official confirmation regarding Shah Rukh Khan’s involvement in the project.
Still, the possibility of such a collaboration has generated significant excitement among fans of both Bollywood and South Indian cinema.
A Rare Meeting of Indian Cinema Legends
Rajinikanth previously appeared indirectly in Shah Rukh Khan’s 2011 sci-fi film “Ra.One,” where the iconic character Chitti from the Enthiran franchise appeared briefly. However, later reports clarified that Rajinikanth himself did not perform that scene.
In 2013, Shah Rukh Khan also paid tribute to Rajinikanth in the popular “Lungi Dance” song from the film Chennai Express. Despite these references, the two megastars have never appeared together in a live-action scene on screen.
If the rumored cameo in “Jailer 2” materializes, it would mark their first true on-screen collaboration.
Returning Faces in ‘Jailer 2’
The sequel to the 2023 blockbuster “Jailer” is being directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. Actor Mohanlal, who made a cameo appearance in the first film as Matthew — a friend of Rajinikanth’s character Muthuvel Pandian IPS, also known as Tiger — is expected to return for the sequel.
Reports also suggest that Kannada superstar Shiv Rajkumar could once again play a role in the franchise.
Shah Rukh Khan’s Upcoming Project
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan is currently occupied with the filming of his upcoming movie “King.” The highly anticipated film is scheduled to hit theaters on December 24, 2026.
