RSS Leader Dattatreya Hosabale Highlights Sant Ravidas’ Legacy of Social Equality
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale on Saturday called for greater unity in society while paying tribute to Sant Ravidas on the occasion of his 650th birth anniversary.
Speaking during the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha meeting in Samalkha, Haryana, Hosabale said that some divisive forces are attempting to fragment society along class and caste lines, and emphasized the need to strengthen social harmony and national unity.
Tribute to a Revered Saint in India’s Spiritual Tradition
Hosabale said that Sant Ravidas holds a special place in India’s rich saint tradition, which has played an important role in shaping the country’s spiritual and social life.
He noted that Sant Ravidas challenged social discrimination based on birth and emphasized that a person’s true worth should be judged by their actions rather than their caste or background.
According to Hosabale, Sant Ravidas played a historic role in transforming social thinking and encouraging people to reject outdated social practices.
Message of Social Reform and Change
The RSS leader said that Sant Ravidas inspired society to move beyond superstitions and rigid traditions and to embrace reforms that align with changing times.
He said the saint’s teachings encouraged people to adopt progressive thinking while maintaining moral and spiritual values.
Call for Unity in Modern Times
Referring to current social challenges, Hosabale urged citizens to draw inspiration from Sant Ravidas’ message.
“In a time when certain divisive forces attempt to break society along caste and class lines, we must understand the essence of Sant Ravidas’ teachings and work for the unity and integrity of society and the nation,” he said.

Hosabale also spoke about the broader Sant tradition in India, describing it as a powerful cultural and spiritual force that promoted devotion, social harmony, and awareness.
He said the teachings of saints helped guide society during difficult periods in history and strengthened the spirit of unity among communities.

Highlighting the life and values of Sant Ravidas, Hosabale said the saint’s teachings reflected the dignity of labor and ethical conduct.
According to him, Sant Ravidas demonstrated through his life the importance of honest work, moral behavior, and transparency, values that continue to inspire society today.
RSS Meeting in Samalkha
Hosabale made these remarks at Madhav Srishti in Samalkha, where the RSS is holding its Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha meeting from March 13 to March 15.
The annual meeting brings together senior RSS leaders and representatives from across the country to discuss organizational matters and social issues.
