In order to review the preparations of
Chandigarh Carnival, UT Home-cum-Tourism Secretary, Mr. Ram Niwas
visited the leisure valley today. He was accompanied by Director,
Chandigarh Tourism, Chief Engineer other senior officials of the
Administration.
Aliens are descending in the city during the Chandigarh Carnival as
the theme of the Carnival this year is science fiction. A 30 feet high
robot will welcome the visitors at the entry gate of the Chandigarh
Carnival. The robot consisting of steel structure has been specially
designed by the students of Chandigarh College of Arts. It will be
illuminated with glistening lights. Around 40 stalls have been
designed on the theme of science fiction which will have been
beautifully painted science fiction characters by the students of
Chandigarh College of Arts.
A special film city on the theme of science fiction has been set up
by the ITFT, Chandigarh. The entry gate of the film city has been
designed on the design of Spiderman. There will be a dinosaur which
will welcome the visitors with his roar, and bloodshot eyes at the
gate of the film city. At the film city various films shootings by
the students of ITFT will be shown. The famous mask maker Vinay
Vadhera is also displaying his internationally acclaimed masks at the
Chandigarh Carnival.
There will be special cuisines of different states during the
Carnival apart from musical evenings.
On 26th famous Bollywood singer Suraj Jagan will give his performance
and he will be singing famous film songs like “Give me some sunshine”
from movie “3 Idots”, “Tum bhi ho wahi” from “Kites”, “Sadka Hua”,
from “I hate luv storys” and “jahreelay” from “Rock on”.
On 27th Shefali Zariwala, famous Bollywood dancer and Ambili will perform.
On 28th famous Punjab rapper Bohemia and alongwith famous laughter
challenge star Kapil Sharma will perform. This year the exhibition
stalls will have interesting displays from Jaspal Bhatti and famous
theatre personality G.S. Channi. There will be presentations by
Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Academy. Chandigarh Lalit kala Akademy will
organize on the spot painting competition.
The carnival will be inaugurated by Shri Pradip Mehra, adviser to the
Administrator. The carnival parade will exhibits floats based on
science fiction theme. Around 500 students of ITFT will also take part
in the parade during the carnival.
