Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the 16th Combined Commanders Conference (CCC) at the Indian Army’s Eastern Command Headquarters, Vijay Durg (formerly Fort William), Kolkata. The three-day brainstorming session of top military leaders is being held under the theme “Year of Reforms – Transformation for the Future.”
Focus on Reforms and Operational Preparedness
The CCC is considered the highest-level strategic platform where the civilian and military leadership of India exchange views. This year, the discussions come in the backdrop of Operation Sindoor, with the agenda centered on reforms, transformation, change, and operational readiness of the armed forces.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan, and other senior officials are attending the conference. The last CCC was held in Bhopal in 2023.

PM Modi’s Bihar Visit: Launch of National Makhana Board
After the conference, PM Modi will travel to Purnia, Bihar, marking his second visit to the state in a month. He will launch the National Makhana Board, which aims to:
Promote production and modern farming techniques
Strengthen post-harvest management
Support value addition, processing, and branding
Facilitate exports and market expansion
This initiative is expected to boost the livelihood of thousands of farmers in Bihar, especially in the Seemanchal region, known as India’s hub of makhana cultivation.
What is the Combined Commanders Conference (CCC)?
The CCC is a strategic and ideological platform where India’s defense leadership brainstorms on national security, reforms, and future challenges. Initiated decades ago, it brings together service chiefs, senior commanders, defense ministry officials, and the Prime Minister to align strategies with long-term national goals.
Modi’s Tight Schedule
PM Modi arrived in Kolkata from Jorhat, Assam, on Sunday evening and stayed overnight at Raj Bhavan. After inaugurating the conference at Vijay Durg on Monday morning, he will head to Bihar later in the day.
