New Delhi, India – December 14, 2025 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to undertake his first full-fledged bilateral visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan from December 15 to 16, 2025, marking a historic moment in India–Jordan ties. The visit, at the invitation of King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein, will be the opening leg of a three-nation tour that also includes Ethiopia (December 16–17) and Oman (December 17–18).
The landmark trip coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Jordan, established in 1950, offering a timely opportunity to elevate bilateral engagement across political, economic, defense, and cultural domains.
During his stay in Amman, Prime Minister Modi will hold high-level delegation talks with King Abdullah II, reviewing the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation. The leaders are expected to exchange views on key regional and global issues, including the evolving situation in West Asia following the Gaza conflict, counter-terrorism cooperation, and joint efforts to promote peace, stability, and security in the region.
A major highlight of the visit will be the India–Jordan Business Forum, which PM Modi and King Abdullah II will jointly address to encourage greater trade, investment, and private-sector partnerships. The Prime Minister is also scheduled to interact with the Indian diaspora in Jordan, estimated at around 18,000 people, who play a vital role in sectors such as textiles, information technology, healthcare, and finance.
PM Modi may also visit the ancient city of Petra, accompanied by Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, symbolizing the deep civilizational and cultural linkages between India and Jordan.
India and Jordan share warm and friendly relations built on mutual trust and goodwill. India is currently Jordan’s third-largest trading partner, with bilateral trade valued at approximately $2.8 billion, driven largely by Indian exports of pharmaceuticals, engineering goods, textiles, food and agricultural products, and fertilizers. Indian companies have made notable investments in Jordan’s Qualified Industrial Zones, while air connectivity is supported by Royal Jordanian’s direct flights between Amman and Mumbai, with plans to expand services to New Delhi.
Talks during the visit are expected to explore new cooperation in water security, desalination technology, irrigation, IT services, and human resource development, including increasing ITEC training slots for Jordanian officials from 37 to 50.
India’s Ambassador to Jordan, Manish Chauhan, described the visit as “truly historic,” noting that it comes at a pivotal moment for both bilateral ties and regional geopolitics. He emphasized that the focus will be on translating longstanding friendship into practical, future-oriented collaborations.
The visit reinforces India’s expanding strategic engagement in West Asia under its “Link West” policy, positioning Jordan—a moderate and trusted Arab partner—as a key gateway to the Middle East, while aligning with broader initiatives to counter extremism, including frameworks such as the Aqaba Process.
