As military tensions escalate in West Asia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held separate phone conversations with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the rapidly evolving security situation.
The calls come amid increasing Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting the United Arab Emirates, raising concerns about regional stability.
Modi Emphasizes Peace and Civilian Safety
In a post on social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi said he discussed regional developments and expressed India’s concerns regarding escalating violence. He stressed that civilian safety must remain the top priority and called for immediate de-escalation.
Modi urged all sides to work toward restoring peace and stability in the region.
Condemnation of Attacks on UAE
During his conversation with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Modi strongly condemned the attacks on the UAE and expressed condolences for the loss of lives.
He reiterated that India stands firmly with the UAE during this challenging time.
The Prime Minister also thanked the UAE leadership for ensuring the safety and well-being of the large Indian community residing in the country.
The UAE is home to a significant number of Indian nationals working across sectors, and the Indian government has been closely monitoring developments.
Status of Indian Citizen Injured
The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi confirmed that an Indian national injured during the attacks is now stable after receiving medical treatment. The embassy said it remains in constant contact with hospital authorities and local officials to ensure continued support.
The mission added that all necessary assistance is being provided and the situation is being closely monitored.
Casualties and Damage Reported
According to the UAE Ministry of Defense, three people were killed in the attacks, while 58 individuals sustained minor injuries. Those injured include citizens of multiple countries, including India.
The attacks reportedly caused property damage due to falling debris and explosions in several locations.
Scale of Missile and Drone Strikes
UAE authorities stated that Iran launched large-scale strikes involving:
165 ballistic missiles
2 cruise missiles
541 drones
Security forces intercepted 506 drones mid-air, while 35 drones reportedly fell within the country, causing limited damage.
Air defense systems remained active throughout the assault to prevent further destruction.
