Pentagon Reports US Troop Casualties in Iran Conflict

Washington, D.C., United States — March 11, 2026

The U.S. Department of Defense has officially confirmed casualties among American forces amid the ongoing military confrontation between the United States and Iran. On Tuesday, the Pentagon revealed that seven U.S. soldiers have been killed and approximately 140 troops injured since the conflict began in late February.

This marks the first time the Pentagon has publicly released a comprehensive figure detailing American casualties in the current hostilities.

According to Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell, the majority of injured service members are not critically wounded, and many have already returned to active duty following treatment.

Official Casualty Breakdown

The Pentagon provided the following details regarding U.S. military casualties:

  • Total fatalities: 7 U.S. soldiers confirmed dead

  • Total injured: Approximately 140 troops wounded

  • Seriously injured: 8 soldiers reported in critical condition

  • Returned to duty: 108 service members have resumed duty after treatment for minor injuries

Officials emphasized that while the numbers reflect the intensity of the conflict, a large proportion of the injured personnel suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Seventh U.S. Soldier Died After March 1 Operation

The Pentagon confirmed that the seventh U.S. soldier died on March 9 after being critically wounded during “Operation Epic Fury” on March 1.

Defense officials said the soldier had been receiving medical treatment for several days before succumbing to injuries related to the operation.

Iranian Drone and Missile Attacks Target U.S. Bases

According to Pentagon officials, most of the casualties occurred during Iranian drone and missile attacks targeting U.S. military installations in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

The attacks reportedly struck several American bases across the region, prompting defensive actions and heightened military alert levels.

U.S. defense authorities have increased surveillance and air-defense operations to protect American personnel stationed in the Middle East.

Iran Claims Higher Casualties, U.S. Rejects Figures

Iranian state media and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have claimed that more than 200 U.S. soldiers were killed or injured during attacks on American ships and military bases.

However, U.S. officials have rejected these claims, stating that the Pentagon’s official figures represent the verified casualty count.

Defense officials emphasized that the U.S. military continues to monitor the situation closely and respond to threats against its personnel and installations.

Conflict Enters Day 12

The current phase of the U.S.–Iran conflict began on February 28, 2026, and has now entered its 12th day.

Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell noted that while most injuries are minor, tensions remain high as both sides continue military operations in the region.

Defense analysts warn that the evolving situation could further impact regional security dynamics and U.S. military deployments across the Middle East.
