Patna High Court has changed the death sentence of 4 terrorists to life imprisonment in the serial blasts that took place in Narendra Modi’s Hunkar rally on 27 October 2013 at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. Civil court had sentenced all of them to death. High Court has upheld the life imprisonment sentence of the remaining 2 convicts. In the blast, the lower court had sentenced 4 to death and 2 to life imprisonment.
The convicts’ lawyer Imran Ghani said that while hearing the appeal, 4 convicts have been sentenced to life imprisonment (30 years), while the lower court’s decision has been reserved for 2 convicts. This decision has been given by the division bench of Justice Ashutosh Kumar.
Numan Ansari, Mohammad Majibullah, Haider Ali, Imtiaz Alam were sentenced to death by the lower court, which has now been changed to life imprisonment by the High Court. At the same time, the lower court’s verdict of life imprisonment for Umair Siddiqui and Azharuddin Qureshi has been upheld. Defense lawyer Imran Ghani said that they will go to the Supreme Court against this verdict. ( PLC & GT )
