The renowned educational institute Gurukul Vidyapeeth institute of Engineering & Technology near Chandigarh has launched two new courses Mining engineering & Automobile engineering .It is the first institute in North India to offer B.Tech in Mining engineering . Punjab Technical University ,Jalandhar has approved the launch of these two courses at its academic council.
Dr. Manmohan Kumar Garg, Chairman, Gurukul Vidyapeeth said that Mining & Automobile engineers are in demand globally. Mining Engineers are mainly responsible for extraction of various mines from the earth keeping the environment intact. The extraction of the mineral may be such as coal , gold , uranium etc. . The mining engineers are highly paid with an annual packalge of Rs. 5-7 lacs per annum for freshers.
Er.Amanpreet Singh informed that the various mining companies offers a starting stipend of Rs. 25000.00 per month to the mining engineers and the automobile companies hire the manpower at a handsome package of 5 lacs per annum as machine operation. Most of the Engineers work in the field of , mining of coal , diamond and oil & gas exploration,refineries, reservoir modeling and management, drilling and production operation and marketing of minerals. There is good demand for quality engineers due to technology advancement in boosting minerals such as uranium and oil & gas exploration. Few companies offering jobs to such Engineers are: , Coal Corporation of india , Steel Authority of india , TISCO , reliance , IOC, BP, HP.
