All set to join the fashion industry, the graduating students of Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology (NIIFT), Mohali and Jalandhar showcased their creative talent through ‘Anukama 12’ , an annual design collection show at Tagore Theatre here on last night. Versatile outfits designed especially for theme-based sequences by NIIFT, Mohali and Jalandhar students, were gracefully portrayed by professional as well as in-house models as they walked down the ramp. Further to add one more feather in the cap, NIIFT has been ranked 10th in the All India Survey of Top 10 Fashion Technology Institutes in the Country by The Outlook Magazine {June25th ,2012 edition).
Chief Guest, Sh A.R. Talwar, I.A.S. Chairman NIIFT and Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce,graced the occasion to encourage the students and winners. Important dignitaries present on the occasion were Sh. S.S Bains, I.A.S. Director General, NIIFT, Mohali and Director Industries & Commerce, Punjab.
The show was a success with ramp scorching Designer Outfits worn by models like Tina Chhatwal and others. Students created mesmerizing collections following various themes like Sunflower Seed, Women Empowerment, Gallates ,Srivijaya Art of Thai to mention a few. It was choreographed by Mr. Hemant Mehta of Creativatorss Event and Production.
Every collection had a unique inspirational source behind them. Drawing inspiration from magnified shapes, digital printing, and traditional embroideries etc .The students experimented with technology, non-conventional material, color palettes, silhouettes and fabrics in their collections.
‘Anukama ‘12’ was a design collection show where three years of thorough training and six months of diligent preparation were presented. Each student of Fashion Design department from Mohali as well as Jalandhar individually had worked on a theme and presented five ensembles related to that theme.
The students of NIIFT are specially trained to solve problems and undertake explorations relating to latest technology, raw materials and processes to develop creative collections.
The show presented a rich blend of lovely 54 collections designed by talented and creatively thinking fashion graduates. These young students came up with fabulous collections ranging high on style quotient from very wearable to the most experimental ones. The students also had creatively used woven, knits, rib, woolen blends, khadi, silk, cotton, crochet work, leather, digital printing, to enhance the creativity of their themes and collection.
