Rome : Namaz Ban in Italy, The right-wing Coalition party in the Italian government led by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has drafted a law to ban Muslim places of Namaz outside mosques. In Italy, the ruling Brothers of Italy party has come up with a bill that seeks to ban the use of garages and industrial warehouses and facilities as mosques, and to ban Namaz outside mosques.
According to reports, the Nationalist government led by Meloni has amended the country’s urban planning law. The draft law aims to prohibit the conversion of industrial garages and warehouses into religious places of Namaz or mosques.
The bill, proposed by the Brothers of Italy party, which is currently being debated in Parliament’s environment committee, aims to ban the use of garages and industrial warehouses as mosques.
The report pointed out that cultural and religious organizations that have not signed agreements with the Italian state will not be allowed to use the property as a place of Namaz .
The country’s Muslim community has not signed any such agreement with the state. The bill was opposed by MPs from opposition parties in Parliament’s Environment Committee, who said that if passed, it would restrict freedom of religion. Through this bill, it is being claimed that the bill will stop any possible Islamization of Italy.
Sami Salem, the imam or prayer leader of the Maggliana Mosque in Rome, pointed out that it is a bill that clearly discriminates against Muslims and does not respect Italy’s constitution which protects all citizens living in Italy. Izzeddin Elzir, another imam of the Muslim community in the northern province of Florence, expressed his concern about the legality of the draft law.
