Rumors surrounding the casting of director Aditya Dhar’s latest film Dhurandhar have been put to rest after veteran actor Nagarjuna publicly clarified that he was never approached for the role now widely praised as one of Akshaye Khanna’s strongest performances.
Nagarjuna Addresses Viral Casting Speculation
In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Nagarjuna firmly denied reports claiming he had been offered the role of Rahman Dacoit before Khanna was cast.
“That never happened. I was never offered the role. Though honestly, I would have loved to play it,” he said.
His statement comes after social media buzz suggested the part was initially intended for him. The actor dismissed the speculation while expressing admiration for the finished film.
Praises for ‘Dhurandhar’ and Its Cast
Nagarjuna described Dhurandhar as “an outstanding film,” applauding Aditya Dhar’s direction and recalling how much he admired the filmmaker’s previous blockbuster Uri: The Surgical Strike.
He also singled out Akshaye Khanna’s portrayal of Rahman Dacoit as exceptional, stating that the actor delivered a remarkable performance that elevated the film. Nagarjuna further extended his best wishes for the sequel, tentatively titled Dhurandhar: The Revenge, expected in March 2026.
Nagarjuna’s Recent and Upcoming Projects
Nagarjuna was last seen in Bollywood in Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva, where he shared screen space with Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. His next confirmed release is Sankranti, scheduled to hit theaters on January 15, 2027.
What’s Next for Akshaye Khanna?
Akshaye Khanna is expected to reprise his role as Rahman Dacoit in Dhurandhar: The Revenge, slated for release on March 19, 2026. In addition, he is attached to upcoming projects Mahakali and Ikka, further strengthening his lineup in the coming year.
