Monsoon reaches many states, heavy rain likely in some places: Meteorological Department

New Delhi . The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that the southwest monsoon has advanced into some parts of several states. An officer gave this information. IMD said Southwest Monsoon has advanced into some parts of Telangana, most parts of Andhra Pradesh, some parts of Odisha, some parts of west-central-northwest Bay of Bengal, more parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar has increased.

The weather forecasting agency said that during the next two-three days, some more parts of south peninsular India, remaining parts of Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar and parts of Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and southwest Conditions are favorable for further advance of Monsoon. Meanwhile, heat wave conditions are likely to continue over isolated parts of Vidarbha and subside thereafter. The IMD has also predicted light to moderate rain at most places over the northeast and adjoining east of the country during the next seven days, accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning at isolated places. It said that on June 23, heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur over Assam, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh.

The IMD also said that heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Bihar on June 23, Gangetic West Bengal on June 25 and Odisha during June 22-26, at isolated places over Odisha from June 23 to 25 Very heavy rainfall is likely at places. It said that rains are likely to increase over East India from June 27 and heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Odisha, South Jharkhand and adjoining areas of Gangetic West Bengal during June 27-28. Meanwhile, light to moderate widespread rainfall with isolated thunder and lightning very likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh from June 23 to 28 and over plains of northwest India except West Rajasthan from June 25. IMD said, light rain, thunderstorm and lightning very likely at isolated places over West Rajasthan during June 27-28. ( PLC/GT )
