Pakistan on Monday declined to comment on reports suggesting it had proposed a peace plan to end the ongoing conflict between Iran and the United States, while confirming that diplomatic efforts remain underway.

A spokesperson for Pakistan’s Foreign Office, Tahir Andrabi, said multiple reports had surfaced regarding a proposed 45-day ceasefire and a 15-point agreement, but officials would not comment on the specifics.

“We do not comment on such reports,” Andrabi said, adding that the peace process is still in progress.

Reports of Pakistan-Mediated Proposal

The statement follows a report by Reuters, which claimed that Iran and the United States had received a Pakistan-drafted framework aimed at securing a ceasefire. According to the report, the proposal was shared with both sides overnight through diplomatic channels.

Separately, U.S.-based outlet Axios reported that discussions were ongoing around a potential 45-day ceasefire as part of a broader two-stage agreement to end hostilities.

Iran Rejects Ceasefire Proposal

Iran has reportedly rejected the proposed ceasefire framework. According to IRNA, Tehran responded through mediators, including Pakistan, stating that a temporary truce would not be sufficient.

Iran emphasized the need for a permanent resolution to the conflict, outlining a 10-point response that included:

  • Ending regional conflicts
  • Ensuring safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz
  • Lifting economic sanctions
  • Supporting reconstruction efforts

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei also criticized earlier proposals, stating that negotiations cannot proceed alongside ultimatums or threats of military action.

Pakistan’s Mediation Role

Pakistan appears to be positioning itself as a key intermediary in the crisis, leveraging its diplomatic ties with both Washington and Tehran. Analysts say Islamabad’s involvement reflects an effort to strengthen its geopolitical relevance while maintaining balanced relations with both sides.

Trump Issues Warning to Iran

U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a warning to Iran, stating that failure to agree to a ceasefire within a specified timeframe could lead to serious consequences.

In a social media post, Trump warned that if Tehran does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz for maritime traffic, the U.S. could target key infrastructure, including power plants and bridges.
