Middle East – : Iran has accused the United States of directly participating in Israel’s ongoing military operation, warning that President Donald Trump’s comments show clear signs of American involvement in the latest strikes targeting Iranian infrastructure.
Though the United States has not officially joined Israel’s Operation Rising Lion, which began on Friday, June 13, it is assisting Israeli forces by providing key defensive support against Iran’s retaliatory drone and missile attacks.
President Trump recently announced a two-week window to decide whether to authorize U.S. strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites, giving Tehran a final opportunity to return to the negotiating table. Trump has repeatedly stated that Iran will not be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon, while Iran insists its atomic program is designed for peaceful energy purposes.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, speaking to state-run Iranian media, said Tehran sees no separation between Israeli and American actions. “We consider the Americans to be aligned with and cooperating with the Zionist regime,” he said.
He claimed that Iran has detected “multiple signs” of coordination between U.S. military forces in the region and Israel. But Araghchi pointed especially to Trump’s own words as confirmation.
“More important than any military activity are the tweets and interviews of that country’s president,” Araghchi said, referencing Trump’s recent public statements. “He clearly says ‘we did this,’ ‘we carried out that operation.’ That says it all. No more evidence is needed.”
On Tuesday, June 17, Trump posted to Truth Social that “we now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran,” a message released shortly after Israeli officials claimed to have achieved aerial superiority over Tehran.
The president continued, “Iran had good sky trackers and other defensive equipment, and plenty of it, but it doesn’t compare to American made, conceived, and manufactured ‘stuff.’ Nobody does it better than the good ol’ USA.”
The United States remains Israel’s top military supplier, regularly delivering advanced defense systems, surveillance tools, and weapons platforms.
In a follow-up post, Trump made a direct reference to Iran’s Supreme Leader. “We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding. He is an easy target, but is safe there – we are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now,” Trump wrote. “But we don’t want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin.”
With accusations escalating on both sides and U.S. officials standing firm behind Israel’s right to defend itself, tensions in the region have intensified as the deadline for Iran to respond approaches.
