” F-35 Targeted in War Zone: Iran claims historic strike on US stealth jet, while Pentagon confirms emergency landing. Tensions escalate across West Asia. “
F-35 Incident Update: Iran has claimed it carried out a strike on a US F-35 Lightning II stealth fighter jet, marking what it described as a first-of-its-kind attack. US defense officials have confirmed that the aircraft made an emergency landing following the incident.
The development comes amid escalating tensions in West Asia, with both sides issuing conflicting accounts of the event.
Iran’s Claim of Targeting F-35
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that it targeted a US F-35 aircraft over central Iran around 2:50 a.m. local time. According to Iranian officials, the aircraft may have suffered severe damage, raising the possibility of a crash.
Iran also claimed that it had previously shot down more than 125 US and Israeli drones during the ongoing conflict, though these claims have not been independently verified.
US Confirms Emergency Landing
According to reports citing US defense officials, the F-35 was forced to make an emergency landing after coming under missile fire.
US Central Command spokesperson Captain Tim Hawkins confirmed that the aircraft was on a mission over Iran and landed safely. The pilot is reported to be in stable condition, and an investigation into the incident is currently underway.
The F-35 Lightning II is among the most advanced and expensive fighter jets in the world, with an estimated cost exceeding $100 million per unit.

A US KC-135 Stratotanker crashed in Iraq last week, resulting in the deaths of all six personnel on board. US officials stated the crash was not caused by enemy action
US Maintains Strategic Advantage
Despite these incidents, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that American forces remain in a strong position and are achieving their strategic objectives.
He also claimed that Iran’s air defense systems have been significantly weakened.
Meanwhile, the US is reportedly strengthening its military presence in the region. Reports indicate that a Marine Expeditionary Unit from Okinawa and the USS Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group have been deployed to reinforce operational readiness.
