The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a severe weather alert for North India on January 25, 2026, warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, strong winds, and snowfall across multiple states due to an active Western Disturbance.
According to IMD, the fresh weather system is likely to significantly impact both hilly regions and plains, leading to deteriorating weather conditions, reduced visibility, and a sharp drop in temperatures.

IMD has placed the following regions under rain, thunderstorm, and snowfall alert:
Uttar Pradesh
Rajasthan
Punjab
Delhi
Haryana
Uttarakhand
Himachal Pradesh
Jammu & Kashmir
Ladakh
Residents are advised to remain cautious, especially in vulnerable and hilly areas.

Due to the influence of the Western Disturbance:
Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand may receive heavy snowfall
Plains of North India could witness moderate to heavy rainfall, along with hailstorms in isolated locations
Landslide-prone and high-altitude regions may face travel disruptions
🌧️ Delhi-NCR Weather Update
After 19.8 mm of widespread rainfall recorded on Saturday, Delhi is expected to remain cloudy on Sunday with light rain or drizzle likely at several places.
Minimum Temperature: 6°C to 8°C (estimated)
Cold and damp conditions have intensified, bringing back chilling winter cold

IMD has also warned of:
Strong winds ranging from 40 to 65 km/h over Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi-NCR
Dense morning fog, which may severely affect visibility and traffic movement
People are advised to avoid unnecessary travel during early morning hours.
