To improve and streamline the functioning
of Registering and licensing Authority, Central office Sector-17, Sub
offices SDM (east) and SDM (south) , the Home Secretary –cum
Secretary transport, UT conducted an inspection of the said offices
along with Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Joint
Secretary Home and other senior officers of Chandigarh administration.
During the inspection, it was noticed that there was a backlog of
5000 pending RCS in the Central office Sector – 17. Accordingly, the
Home Secretary directed the concerned officer to take an immediate
measure to clear the backlog on time bound basis. He further ordered
to provide additional windows at all the RLA offices for receiving
applications, with adequate data operators and computers. To reduce
the waiting time at the service window, it was further decided that an
electronic token system be introduced at the reception counter to
facilitate applicants to avoid long queues. HS also interacted with
the visitors who had come to deposit their forms.
On visit to Sector 42, HS noticed a big rush of people at the counter
there, he also directed that more service window should be opened and
Additional staff to be deputed to these offices. To clear the present
backlog, it was decided that staff would be put on extra duty on
working as well as on holidays. If needed, additional staff will be
outsourced to clear the backlog.
The Home Secretary has assured that pending backlog would be cleared
at the earliest possible. For smooth functioning of these offices,
more manual power as well as infrastructure will be added in each RLA
office and a team of senior officers will regularly visit these
offices to review its functioning.
HS also asked the team to refurbish the central office by providing
ACs facilities and to make its complete renovation on priority basis
for the convenience of the public.
