Despite the announcement of farmers not to march to Delhi from Punjab-Haryana border on Friday, the outer district police is engaged in strengthening the security on the border. On Thursday night, the police had ordered containers and barricades on the border. More containers were ordered late on Friday night. So far the police has kept about a dozen containers.
The police is also deploying paramilitary forces along with Delhi Police to strengthen the security of the border. On Friday, paramilitary forces were called at Tikri border. On Saturday, RPF has also been deployed here.
Police officials say that Delhi Police is trying its best to stop the farmers. However, due to the security arrangements of the police, the drivers coming and going from Haryana are not facing any kind of problem. The situation on the border remained normal on Saturday.
People from Bahadurgarh, Rohtak, Bhiwani and Punjab of Haryana enter Delhi through Tikri border. Also, there are many factories in Haryana, in which people living in Delhi go to work. People may have to face a lot of trouble due to the closure of Tikri border. People living in Delhi adjacent to the border also get fodder for their cattle from Haryana. Dairy operators say that when the border is closed, they face a lot of problems.
