Hardik Pandya Nears KL Rahul T20I Run Record Before IND vs ENG Semi-Final

Mumbai, India — March 4, 2026

India’s star all-rounder Hardik Pandya is on the verge of achieving a significant personal milestone ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 semi-final against England, scheduled for March 5 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.

Pandya needs just 23 runs in the upcoming knockout match to move past KL Rahul in the list of India’s highest run-scorers in T20 International cricket.

Close Race in India’s T20I Run Charts

Hardik Pandya has scored 2,243 runs in 136 T20 International matches so far. In comparison, KL Rahul has accumulated 2,265 runs in 72 matches, currently placing him fourth among India’s leading T20I run-scorers.

If Pandya scores 23 runs in the semi-final, he will surpass Rahul and climb to the fourth position in India’s all-time T20I run list.

At the top of the list is Rohit Sharma, who has scored 4,231 runs in 159 matches. Virat Kohli follows closely with 4,188 runs, while India’s current captain Suryakumar Yadav holds the third position with 3,261 runs.

Mixed Performance in T20 World Cup 2026

Hardik Pandya’s performance in the T20 World Cup 2026 has been somewhat inconsistent.

In seven matches, he has scored 172 runs at a strike rate of 156, including two half-centuries. With the ball, the all-rounder has taken six wickets during the tournament.

However, his performances against stronger teams have been less impactful. During the Super 8 match against South Africa, Pandya scored only 18 runs and conceded 45 runs in four overs with the ball.

Similarly, in the match against West Indies, he gave away 40 runs in four overs and managed just 17 runs with the bat.

Big Responsibility in the Semi-Final

With India facing England in a crucial semi-final, Pandya’s role will be vital for the team.

As one of India’s key all-rounders, the team will be hoping for a balanced performance with both bat and ball from him in the high-pressure knockout encounter.

If Hardik Pandya delivers on the big stage, he could not only strengthen India’s chances of reaching the T20 World Cup 2026 final, but also secure an important personal milestone in international cricket.
