Displaced Palestinian families in Gaza struggle amid severe shortages of food, water, and medical supplies with winter approaching

Gaza Strip, November 26, 2025 :

The humanitarian situation in Gaza has reached a catastrophic level as winter sets in, with over 2 million residents enduring extreme shortages of essential food, clean water, and medical supplies amid ongoing conflict and mass displacement. The Palestinian NGO Network has sounded an urgent alert emphasizing the perilous conditions faced by the population, especially vulnerable children.

Aid organizations warn that at least 500,000 children in Gaza are at imminent risk of hypothermia, malnutrition, and outbreaks of diseases such as cholera, exacerbated by the collapse of sanitation infrastructure due to continuous hostilities and bombardments. Israeli airstrikes reportedly targeted refugee camps in northern Gaza this afternoon, killing at least 15 civilians, including women and children, as confirmed by local health officials.

The UN Secretary-General António Guterres sharply condemned the humanitarian disaster as “a moral catastrophe” during a press briefing. Despite international calls for a ceasefire and expanded aid access, border restrictions allow only 10% of the required aid trucks into Gaza daily, critically hampering relief efforts.

Experts warn that without immediate and substantial humanitarian intervention, the death toll—which has soared beyond 43,000 since October 2023—may escalate by thousands in the upcoming weeks. European leaders have pledged a joint aid package of €200 million, but challenges remain in the equitable distribution of supplies.

The crisis underscores the urgent necessity for diplomatic breakthroughs to halt violence and enable unfettered humanitarian access to one of the world’s most densely populated and vulnerable areas, as the population braces for the harsh winter ahead.
