Mumbai, October 29, 2025:
Bollywood’s sky-high blockbuster franchise Fighter is officially getting a sequel!
Director Siddharth Anand has locked the script for “Fighter 2”, and filming is set to begin in February 2026 with Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone reprising their iconic roles.
“The next chapter in the Fighter universe is ready to take off. The script has been finalized, and we’re aiming for a larger, more emotionally powerful spectacle,” confirmed Siddharth Anand in an interview with Filmfare.
🛩️ Fighter 2: The Sequel Everyone Wanted
Following the roaring success of Fighter (2024), which grossed over ₹510 crore worldwide, fans had been eagerly awaiting news of a sequel.
The first film introduced audiences to the elite Indian Air Force pilot Shamsher “Patty” Pathania (Hrithik Roshan) and squadron leader Minal “Minni” Rathore (Deepika Padukone), blending high-octane aerial action with patriotic fervor and romance.
“We always knew Fighter was the start of something bigger. Fighter 2 will explore the cost of heroism — it’s as much about the heart as it is about the skies,” Anand revealed.
🎞️ Bigger Scale, Deeper Story
Yash Raj Films and Marflix Pictures are reportedly backing the sequel with an estimated budget of ₹450 crore, making it one of the most expensive Indian films ever produced.
According to insiders, Fighter 2 will not only deliver breathtaking aerial combat sequences but also feature an expanded narrative with global military stakes.
“Expect intense dogfights, futuristic jets, and emotional storytelling that pushes the boundaries of Indian action cinema,” said a source close to the production.
Rumors suggest that the story picks up two years after the events of the first film, with Patty leading a multinational coalition force to prevent a global cyberterror threat.
🧨 Deepika & Hrithik: The Power Duo Returns
The chemistry between Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone was one of Fighter’s biggest talking points. Their on-screen bond, emotional depth, and charm helped the film dominate both box office and streaming charts.
In Fighter 2, both stars are expected to reprise their IAF roles, but with more complexity.
“Patty and Minni will face personal losses and moral dilemmas that test their loyalty, courage, and love,” revealed an assistant director.
Deepika Padukone reportedly began pilot simulation training again in mid-October to prepare for her action-heavy role. Hrithik, meanwhile, has been undergoing high-altitude endurance training for the sequel’s opening sequence shot in Norway.
🪂 Cinematic Evolution: From Fighter to Franchise
Director Siddharth Anand, known for War and Pathaan, is expanding the Fighter universe into a long-term franchise.
| Film | Year | Director | Lead Cast | Box Office |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fighter | 2024 | Siddharth Anand | Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone | ₹510 Cr |
| Fighter 2 | 2026 (expected) | Siddharth Anand | Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone | TBD |
“Fighter 2 is not just a sequel — it’s the next phase of India’s first aerial action universe,” Anand said.
The director also hinted that new characters — including an international antagonist and new IAF recruits — will join the narrative, expanding its cinematic scale.
