Speculation surrounding Farhan Akhtar’s much-anticipated film ‘Don 3’ has intensified once again, with fresh reports suggesting that the project remains far from locked—particularly when it comes to the lead actor.
Earlier, industry buzz strongly indicated that Ranveer Singh would step into the iconic Don franchise, replacing Shah Rukh Khan. However, recent developments suggest that the situation is still fluid, with unresolved concerns over narration, casting commitments, and the film’s overall timeline.
Ranveer Singh Not Fully Convinced After Narration
According to a source close to the project, Farhan Akhtar narrated the full script of ‘Don 3’ to Ranveer Singh on December 12, detailing the film’s scale, action design, and the arc of the lead character.
While Ranveer reportedly appreciated the ambition of the project, the source claims that he was not entirely confident about the depth and progression of his character. Although the actor has not rejected the film outright, he has pushed his availability dates forward, signaling that he has not yet fully committed. This development could further delay the film’s already uncertain production schedule.
Writers Also Unclear About Project Status
Adding to the uncertainty, questions have emerged regarding the film’s writing team. Earlier reports suggested that Farhan Akhtar was developing the story with ‘Vikram Vedha’ writer-director duo Pushkar and Gayatri.
However, Gayatri recently told Amar Ujala that they are no longer aware of the project’s current status. She stated that they are not authorized to comment and have been disconnected from the film for a significant period, leaving them unaware of the script’s progress or casting developments.
Farhan Akhtar Focused on ‘Jee Le Zaraa’
Sources indicate that Farhan Akhtar is currently prioritizing his other directorial venture, ‘Jee Le Zaraa’, which has slowed momentum on Don 3. The uncertainty has reportedly affected other cast members as well, with actors Sharvari Wagh and Vishal Jethwa said to be unaware of where the project stands.
Hrithik Roshan Back in the Mix?
In a surprising twist, reports suggest that the script of ‘Don 3’ was previously narrated to Hrithik Roshan. If Ranveer Singh eventually opts out or scheduling conflicts arise, Farhan Akhtar may consider approaching Hrithik again. No official confirmation has been issued, but insiders say the filmmaker is keen on keeping multiple options open.
